About the video:
In 1990 we saw a hypothetical home of the future drawn for a story in Newsweek. We contacted the architect, Jack Bloodgood, asked him to draw up the plans, and in 1991, we built it. While we filled the house with the expected automation components, we didn’t overdo the gadgetry. Rather, we examined how the family would live together and how that would affect residential architecture and the use of space within a home. We also used the opportunity to try some prototype building products including engineered wood components and wallboard made of recycled newsprint and gypsum.
About the study plan:
The study plan for this 4,220 square foot, 3-4 bedroom, 4 1/2-bath home features exterior and interior views of home, clear floor plans with room dimensions, and a closer look at the kitchen cabinets and master bath area, plus information for ordering the full construction blueprints.
The Home of the Future video and study plan are also available separately.
